February 23rd & 24th
”Crafts & Jewelry” at Fotevikens Museum

Fotevikens Museum will this year make jewelry in the traditional Viking styles! Join us and take part of all the stages of production, from finding materials to shape the jewelry. We will work with stone, wood, bone, amber and leather. We develop real designs from Viking times and give you the knowledge you need to create something really beautiful!

During the day you can participate in historical games, try on different Viking craft or go exploring in the Viking city.Once a day you can follow one of the city Vikings on a guided tour that ends with a mythological story in our guild hall, Tinghöll. The tour begins at the rune stone just next to the museum entrance.

The museum's cafe will be open to all who want to take a break between the different activities.

April 30th
Walpurgis Night and Open House at Fotevikens Museum

This year we will celebrate May Day with the Open House at the Museum of Foteviken! We celebrate each season with a festive event where May Day will be the first. We want to celebrate the arrival of spring and therefore invite all of you to celebrate with us. Come to the Viking town and enjoy the spring of hope are here, talk to Vikings, wander around and look at the city's houses. Why not take the opportunity to eat really good Viking food that will be on sale in the Viking town's Bakery!

16 o'clock we light a family with children friendly valborgsbål at Hola Stones while we read a poem to welcome spring.

International Viking Day

Some years ago, proclaimed the international organization Destination Viking Association May 8 as the international Viking days. On Foteviken Museum celebrates course we this day!

During the day there will be additional activities in honor of the day. Beyond the tower is full of "hands on" activity with historical games and archery. 12.30 we gather them all at the rune stone where it gets a number. Then it will read stories from Norse mythology Ting Kept.

The National Day & The Battle of Foteviken

Celebrate the Swedish Flag Day with the Vikings at Fotevikens Museum.
On the National Day the village will be open with activities for the whole family! Historical games are activities that are fun for both big and small, these challenge balance, precision and strength.
During the day viking craftsmen will have their craft products to sales.
Do not miss the celebration of the National Day at Fotevikens Museum!

Fotevikens Museums summer bonfire!

Every season is celebrated with a torchlight procession, bonfire and poetry reading at Fotevikens Museum. At Bygdegården, we gather in a solemn torchlight hike through the Viking town and up to Hola Stones to light a summer bonfire and greet the summer welcome.

Historical tastes and local products in Höllvikens Bygdegård

A culinary journey through time!

The theme is the history of food, we have invited top chefs from all over the north who have put together a fantastic menu, try the specialties of the day, stroll among the exhibitors and take part in local products and delicacies. 
The international and local chefs have fought hard to develop local products and taste with historical roots, this must be absolutely free to taste and experience the product. There will also be seminars and one gets an opportunity to closely discuss with creators.

The Battle of Foteviken year 1134

Our Scanian King, Erik Emune, defended Skåne at the battle of Foteviken year 1134. The attackers were Erik's uncle King Niels and his son Prince Magnus. They had sailed over Eyrasundet with its large fleet and landed just south of Foteviken. Heavily armed warriors waded ashore where they were met by Erik and his retinue. With the help of Archbishop Ascer of Lund with Hird and about 400 hired German riders were driven the enemy on the run.

This Scanian victory is something we in the Viking town really want to celebrate!
At 11:34 we gather at the rune stone erected 19 years ago as a memory of the battle. After a speech and tribute to the fallen warriors of we cast stone with mead according to the ancient tradition. Some Viking warriors will perform a fighting show which symbolically recreates the battle of fotevik - though much smaller scale! At every hour, starting at 12.00, the Battle of Foteviken be told in Foteviken nave Ting Kept. Once you have heard the exciting story of the battle of fotevik you follow the warriors from Ting Kept then see battle again.

June 27th to 30th 
Craftmanship Days at Fotevikens Museum

Craftmanship Days, which takes place the same week as the Viking market has proven to be a successful concept. Vikings arriving at the Museum of Foteviken early Viking uses the city as a meeting place for artisans to exchange experiences and showing each other techniques.

Crafts Days taking place mostly on "crafts" area located outside the reconstructed city's ramparts. This will be a number of craft stations with different historical crafts such as cooking, wrought iron and fabric.

July 1st to 3rd 
Fotevikens Viking Market

This year's highlight is, as usual, Viking market Foteviken Museum. During these days about 500 Vikings from all over the world to participate in the market. As a visitor to the market, you can stroll around the Viking town and surroundings, here it is full of activities with lots of market stalls. They sell everything from beautiful handmade jewelry to Viking sword. Why not take the opportunity to measure your strength with the Vikings by competing in pole rejection, tug of war, the Viking intoxication or throws with large cod?

One of the highlights of the market is the battle of fotevik we re-create a number of times on Saturday and Sunday with the help of the visiting Viking warrior. Battle of fotevik took place on June 4th year 1134th

Foteviken Museum celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and we introduced Viking Games Open. It was a huge success and therefore we will continue this exciting competition, open to both the Vikings and visitors! Entrants will get set up in five different events that put precision, balance and strength to the test! On Saturday we start with the first three branches and continues with the final two competition rounds on Sunday. The competition will end with an awards ceremony for this year's winners!

Myths & Legends at Fotevikens Museum

For this years Archaeology Day Fotevikens Museums presents Myths & Legends!

Now when darkness begins to creep closer and closer so wish Foteviken Museum begin a new tradition.Come to Foteviken Museum and experience the world of mythology Vikings lived in. Our own storytellers will tell you about the various dangers in Midgard's dark and what remedy you can take to protect themselves against them.

In the Viking world wandering gods on earth and changed the fate of everyone they encountered, for better or worse. Get a glimpse into the world of the gods and relationship with each other.

You may also use traditional craftsmanship to create protection against goblins and other skrymt! Do you have a magic cross so you can travel safely through the enchanted forest.

September 24th
Harvest Feast at Fotevikens Museum: 

Last year's Harvest Festival was a huge success! With over 40 exhibitors, lots of activities, good food and pleasant music in natural surroundings became the day very enjoyable and successful. This year, we will of course repeat the success from last year.

During the day you can do more than stroll around the market stalls. We have games with the harvest theme, try diving for apples, toss horseshoes and jumping sack. Have you ever wanted to shoot with a bow? In that case, take the chance now to try archery during the harvest festival!

Towards the end of the day, the Vikings their traditional torchlight procession which all visitors are allowed to join in. The torchlight procession will start at Höllvikens community center and go through the Viking town up towards Hola Stones where a bonfire is lit and it is read a poem.

The program will be updated when the Harvest Feast is approaching.

Ghost Walk at Fotevikens Museum

The Ghost Walk at Fotevikens Museum has been a success since the museum began to arrange it three years ago. Now it's finally tighten again to even a scary ride on the museum! We know that the mythological creatures have taken aim at our Viking town and the ghosts will again haunt us this horrific night, dare you come here?

This year ghost walk will take place on 3rd November at 18-20. Just as before, you will be sent out in groups with escorts who will take you safely through the city.When you book your ticket you will get an arrival time of payment of the ticket as well as the start time for the trek. The meeting point is in Foteviken Museum's entrance building, which also will be simple refreshments for sale.

If you want to be sure to get a ticket so book early! Note also that the Ghost Walk is not appropriate for small children.

Christmas Market in Höllviken with Fotevikens Museum

As part of Handelsplats Hollviken will Fotevikens Museum to participate down in Höllviken! There we will have a small Viking camp and demonstrate crafts and sell Viking products.

On Plate On Sunday, we will also have our fourth and final bonfire for the year. It starts with a torchlight procession from the Top mall and go through Hollviken with the end of the keyhole park where we light the bonfire. As with the other trunk will be read aloud an evocative poem, this time to welcome winter.
