Information about the season of 2020

Read the newsletter about the 2020 season at the Foteviken Viking Museum here.

Government decision

The Swedish government has implemented a ban on public gatherings and events with more than 50 people attending, based on recommendations from the Public Health Authority. This is intended to hinder the spread of the Corona virus.

What measures does the museum take to prevent infestion spread?

We have implemented stricter cleaning and hygiene routines to ensure the environment is clean during your visit. We continuously clean places that are extra exposed or in contact with human hands.

What do I need to think about when visiting the museum?

As a visitor you should follow the general decrees of the Public Health Authority:

  • Stay at home if you are ill.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and nouth.
  • Sneeze and cough into your armpit to limit spread of particles to your surrounding.
  • Remember to keep a distance to other people (about 2m) to reduce the risk of infection.

Will the scheduled event I was planning to visit happen?

The museum will be open, but some planned activities for the year will be cancelled, postponed or held in a different form. Please see our programme page and newsletter about the season for more information. Keep an eye on the web site to keep up to date if any activities are cancelled or changed.

The season opening of the museum planned for Walpurgis has been moved to the Swedish national day, June 6.
