Easter at Foteviken's Museum

The Foteviken Viking Museum, cafè and shop are open for visitors during the Easter weekend 7 - 9 April !

Hours: 10.00 - 15.00

Come and enjoy the atmosphere, the genuine Viking Age buildings, games and an Easter Egg Orienteering Challenge for the kids. In the town's bakery we offer warm tea and bread.

We also offer our guided tours, storytelling and facepainting that are included in the admission.

Low Season Admission 

Take the opportunity to enjoy a coffee break in our shop. We sell drinks, ice cream and light refreshments.

If you prefer a full lunch or dinner during your visit we recommend the restaurant Smokey BBQ & Pickles located right next to the museum.

30 April

Walpurgis night at Foteviken Viking Museum!

We are celebrating the arrival of Spring, Walburgis, and would like to invite you to celebrate this event with us!  Come to the Viking town and enjoy the Spring, that is hopefully here, chat with Vikings, stroll around and check out the buildings in the town. 

The day ends with a joint march to the bonfire and when it´s been lit one of our own Vikings will hold a speech.

Swedish National Day with the Battle of Foteviken

On the National Day the Foteviken Viking town will be open and host activities for the whole family. You can participate in historical games that are fun for all ages.

The Battle of Foteviken, 4th of June 1134

This Scanian victory is something we in the Viking town really like to celebrate!

Holding times:

  • 11.34 Celebration speech by the rune stone, which was erected roughly 20 years ago in memory of the battle. After a speech and celebration of the fallen warriors we will pour mead over the stone in accordance with old tradition.
  • 12.00 Storytelling about the Battle of Foteviken that took place here on the 4th of June, 1134 AD. (the spot where this is going to be held will be announced)
  • 14.00 Guided tour

26 June - 2 July

The Viking week/ Foteviken's Viking Market

This year we have merged the Viking Week with the Viking Market and offer the whole week with a full market programme. During these days Vikings from across the world will participate. As a visitor you may stroll around the Viking town and surroundings which is filled by activities and market stands. Here you may find items ranging from beautiful handmade jewellery to Viking Age style swords. Also new this year is a food court on the grounds of the Museum.

Children´s Days

In our Viking town you will travel back in time to meet craftsmen, warriors and traders, wise men, skilled women and storytelling bards.

The Children's week at Foteviken's Viking Museum will be full of activities for all ages: Exciting Viking tales, historic games and various crafts you can watch, learn or try your hand at.

Family Day´s at Fotevikens Museum

The family week at Foteviken's Viking Museum will be filled with activities for the whole family. Meet the citizens of the Viking town, see how they lived, amused themselves and worked on their estates a normal day in the era of the reign of Harald Bluetooth's era.

Autumn Market

Activities for all ages. Crafting and cultural heritage meetings with a focus on the Viking Age. Selling of crafted products, Viking Age games, warriors and an autumn bonfire on Sunday to end the season.

Ghost Walk at Foteviken's Viking Museum

We know that mythological creatures have found our Viking town, and restless spirits will again haunt us during this horrible evening. Do you dare come visit?
