The Foteviken Viking Market!

The highlight of the year has always been the Foteviken Viking Market which usually draws thousands of visitors and hundreds of visiting Vikings from across the world. This year due to the ongoing Corona virus epidemic the market will not be held in its usual form. Due to travel restrictions only a few of the locals will be able to attend.

As a visitor you are still welcome to walk around our Viking Age environments and buildings, but there will not be any special activities and a crowd of market stands. There may still be some goods on offer, perhaps some handmade jewellery or Viking Age swords, but there will be no games, competitions or special events.

One of the highlights of the market is usually the reenactment of the Battle of Foteviken, performed by visiting Viking warriors. The historic Battle of Foteviken took place on the 4th of June in the year 1134 AD. This reenactment is cancelled, though there may still be a few local warriors present showing off their skills and gear.
